What is the SAVE5Project?

Help improve a life with £5

The SAVE5Project is an annual campaign that encourages people to save £5 a week throughout November, and donate £25 at the end of the month to a small to medium-sized charity/project that works with black or ethnic minority children.

The money saved every year is donated to a charity chosen by previous donators for children in need. The SAVE5Project aims to provide aid for as many children as possible.

The SAVE5Project aims to:

  • CONVENIENCE: provide an easier process for donators and charities by bringing people together to donate to smaller charities/projects that may not receive such generous donations.

  • TRANSPARENCY: break the barriers between donators and charities, as donators will be invited to events where they can meet the charities and also receive updates in the new year to see the impact of their donations.

SAVE5Project Campaigns

2019 Campaign with EducAid

£1,400 raised!

In 2019, the SAVE5Project raised £1,400 for EducAid. During this period, the educational charity  had to focus their efforts on battling COVID-19 and the schools had to close. However, they used this time and the money raised to complete a well at EducAid Lumley School, Sierra Leone. The well will ensure that the staff and students at Lumley School have access to fresh water, running shower and a toilet with flush on site when schools reopen (see video and image). This will mean more time in class and less time fetching water.

Due to COVID-19 there was no event for donors to meet EducAid.

2018 Campaign with Children's Hospice

£1,728 raised!

The SAVE5Project campaign raised £1,728 for Richard House Children’s Hospice. The hospice are now creating a new bedroom and have launched a new service -  Hospice at Home to improve the palliative care for children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions across London.

Just after the digital campaign in November, the SAVE5Project was officially launched in December. Donators who attended found out more about the SAVE5Project and most importantly, met the staff at Richard House Children's Hospice who spoke about their work and answered questions from members of the audience.

Well completed at Lumley School, Sierra Leone
